Hello All,

So I was looking on AbeBooks and they’ve got several copies of a book I’m looking for. However, what is sticking out like a giant red flag is every single seller has the same synopsis, but it isn’t a synopsis of the book. Here’s what it says:

“Very Good in Wraps; 4to; Paperback; 160 pages; Color Illustrations; TSR, Inc; 1996; First Thus; Shelf wear and rubbing to wraps and spine; Minor soiling to for edge of text block; Creasing to several pages of text; Text unmarked but smells of smoke,”

And that’s on every entry (including ones marked as New), which are all different sellers from all over the US and one in the UK. All sellers are of various age with some as old as 2008. And the prices range from ~$175 - ~$350. So there’s a lot of variation, but unless the synopsis is somehow stored in AbeBooks’ database and the sellers can’t actually change it, it just makes me suspicious as all get out, especially for something that is more than just a few bucks.

Any thoughts or advice?

Thanks!

Apparently this kind of thing is often nicking the description from an actual listing but is often a dodgy print on demand service and/or bad reproduction.
