Love Kelly. I want him to retire here, and I don’t buy the crazy conspiracy theories like he was jumped or there was a hit out on him or mob involvement or any of those other stupid ideas.

BUT…

How do you get hit by a car badly enough that you have a broken rib and potentially return to the lineup 4 weeks later? Is breaking a rib kind of like breaking your nose where it doesn’t really impact your physical abilities or something? I can’t imagine that since it literally moves every time you breathe. My cousin broke three ribs in mid-October in a motorcycle accident and he still can’t even move.

I don’t put it past any professional athlete, especially those on the younger end of their career to try to have some fun and do something their contract forbids, get hurt doing it, and try to cover it up in the interest of protecting their money. The video we do have shows him entering his apartment with a bike. I am pretty sure I’ve seen that he is a skater/biker. That’s also not a commuter bike in the video, that’s a trick bike. Maybe he was BMXing at FDR and took a nasty spill?

If you have other avid interests outside of Basketball, you’re not going to 100% ignore them 50-70% of the year, especially if you’re a younger guy. And don’t get me wrong, I get it. He’s our guy, and we’re inclined to believe him, but you have to also remember kids will be kids, and it wouldn’t be the first time something like this was covered up in Philly.

Because he only broke one rib. And while he had injuries to his leg and hip, he didn’t break them. So he’s able to return sooner.

He’s also young, healthy, and has access to some of the best Doctors in the state, so that probably helps too in his healing process.
