And this is why OW2 heroes are more balanced (from principle design), easier to tweak, and more interesting to play (and play against).
There are just too many polarized, yet boring one taps around OW1 heroes. Matrix, Fortify, Wraith, Deflect, Anti-Nade, Mercy Beam, Regen Burst, Widow/Hanzo HS, Pharah/Echo flying. Hog’s breather is not an exemption.
The only heros I found fun to play from OW1 are Ashe and Sigma, and maybe Soldier and Winston. Other heroes are way too skill gated, or just simply boring/unrewarding to play, or too situational/niche.
When devs introduced ‘‘the Venture’’ at blizzcon, they said ‘‘we just want it to be fun to hit the button’’ and that really got me. Indeed OW1 heroes are not ‘‘fun to hit the button’’.
Maybe they were fine in 6v6 environment but still, compared to OW2 heroes, they feel like one trick boring figures.
If devs seriously wanted to ‘‘rework’’ old heroes, they need to scrap and rebuild. Not some cheap tweaking around.
