I lost my Dad this year and am halfway through this novel. Read it for maybe a day.
Hands down, so far one of the best descriptions of grief I have read in a long time. The heaviness of the grief is broken into waves, so it’s weighted but not weighing to read.
If you know anyone who is grieving and want to offer them support I’d 100% hand this book over to them and not say a word. The cover is eye catching enough they’ll read it on their own.
My sympathies for your loss. My mom died in April, after an excruciating battle with Parkinson’s. I’ve found Joan Didion’s The Year of Magical Thinking captures the whole experience in exquisite prose.
