Guys, let’s face it, Burrow is done for the year. Calling it a wrist sprain for now tells us the X-rays we’re probably negative, but seeing the videos on the internet of him on the sideline (right before his failed warm up throws we all saw) where, by reading lips, it looks like he mentions something about a pop and again mentioning a pop to his college teammate Patrick Queen post game (you can find that video in the link). Plus if you find pictures of his hand after the injury, the pinky definitively sticks out, it’s likely the FDP tendon that was ruptured (3-4 month recovery process with an initial surgery and follow up surgery to remove scar tissue). Could still be something else, but regardless we’re going to get the news in the coming days that his season is over.
We all saw the pictures of him getting off the plane with the sleeve on, so obviously this was something he, and surely the team, knew was tender going into the game. I’m tired of watching the guy go out and try to battle through injury just to make things worse, I understand the season was essentially on the line this and the next few weeks, but this was obviously reckless. Someone on the training staff, front office, or maybe even Burrow himself needs to be punished for not making this preexisting issue public so outside/second opinions couldn’t prevent him from playing last night.
Ok. Here’s what you need to do:
Write a strongly-worded letter and print THREE copies. Mail one to NFL headquarters, mail one to Paycor Stadium, and take the third one and stick it straight up your ass.
So did you expect anyone on the Bengals’ staff to tell our most important and competitive player to sit for what was essentially a playoff game? It may or may not have been bothering him. He definitely landed on it awkwardly on his second to last pass.
