I know we all like to jump to the conclusion that the offensive issues are in some large part due to Press Taylor. Everyone looks to point to his time with the Eagles and the way things played out there for Doug and him.

Now I know the downvotes will start to come after what I say next, but just think about it. Is Trevor really that much different than Carson Wentz? Before responding go ahead and take a look at Carson’s numbers his first few years or watch some highlights of his early career play.

Doug and perhaps even Press are good at scheming up offenses and ha e proven that they can create a functional offense even elite offense for a time being with Carson Wentz at the helm. Many people forget that before Carson’s knee injury he was the clear leader for MVP and was having a tremendous season. Doug and Press then took Nick Foles to the Super Bowl.

The NFL adapts quickly and Doug and Press couldn’t come up with new offensive schemes fast enough that their mediocre QBs could carry out which in my opinion lead to his unceremonious firing.

I believe the NFL has figured out that Lawrence is not a real field general and is much better in a quick point and shoot offense. He is a first or second read timing QB…Trevor, in my eyes anyways, is not an assassin who can read the defense under pressure and make the necessary adjustments to find the open man.

I am hoping that Doug and Press can find new schemes to help Trevor develop but I just don’t see much more out of Trevor than a respectable 15-25 range QB who, baring a crazy defense, is ever going to take us to the super bowl.

I’d love to get other people’s thoughts on this. I know it’s impossible for us to detach ourselves from the build up and expectations that surrounded Trevor coming into the league but if we knew none of that and just were watching him play would we really believe he is a lock to be our franchise future?
