Firstly I’m not a man city before people start throwing around accusations. I don’t like man city but I honestly can’t tell if people are being purposely dumb or genuinely can’t tell the difference between the 2 clubs. Hint: It’s not man city are not getting deducted points because they’re a big club.
Everton submitted incorrect accounts to the Premier league in order to pass their profit and sustainability rules (I don’t know why people keep calling this FFP, that’s for european competition and are a different set of rules).
Man City didn’t do this. There is absolutely nothing for the premiership to deduct points from Man City for. They haven’t broken the premiership’s PSR.
Man City are being heavily investigated by HMRC and for good cause. There is no doubt in my mind that they have broken tax laws. This isn’t really a defense of Man City but every club very regularly breaks tax laws. Multimillion pound businesses with top accountants are very good at tax avoidance or even tax evasion. Football comparatively is very bad at this. The UK government gets a lot of tax money from the premiership. Billions every year. Footballers are some of the richest employees in the world (most rich people aren’t rich due to their wage) so pay a lot of tax. For this reason it’s often not worth going after every piece of tax evasion. Sometimes compromises need to be done in business and that includes tax. Man City seem to be the worst offender of this and if the HMRC successfully gathers some of the tax that they have evaded then it will hurt their pockets. At that point they may struggle to meet premiership PSR. Until that point, there’s nothing you can deduct points for.
