You can say literally any theory, statistic, the way things work, idea, and concept possible, it still wouldn’t change that we had a winning record until Ridder was taken out.
I hate, hate, hate the fact that everyone critiques Ridder to hell, yet in his first beginning of the season start, he was leading us to having a winning record, and no one highlights that as the big picture. All I see and hear is people explain how he doesn’t know how to read the offense or be in the pocket. The fact is all of it would definitely seem true, except would you rather have a qb who plays perfectly but doesn’t win, or one that plays like garbage but gets the job done? You can say all you want, but Ridder was getting the job done, and we will never know how things would’ve turned out if he hadn’t been switched out.
From the article linked: “the team has dug itself into a hole.” And it ain’t a lie! They weren’t in a hole four weeks ago!
If Ridder is a true competitor, which I think he is, the anticipation and intensity of possibly losing and letting people down is what drives him, like at the end of the movie Seabiscuit when the trainer tells him to pull back so the horse can look into the other horse’s eyes to motivate him. That concept is real! Us getting to 4-4 record, Ridder starting off with a performance, it was all the bungee pulled back as far as it would go right before Ridder would snap and force himself to do better. But noooo, we pull him out and dejuice him. We sit him down and humble him, it’s how reality is, how things work. Ain’t no such thing as suddenly breaking through the chains and overcoming.
I became a Falcons fan because of Ridder. I was a donut before. Had no team, just loved football, but now I feel like my motivation is gone, just like Ridder’s probably is. The dude has agility, humility, speed, and accuracy. You don’t take a competitor with all those strengths out before you lose the winning record.
Wake up. Put Ridder back in and let him ride it out. Stop giving up and looking for other solutions before it’s even over. At least then we can say Ridder had a chance.
Yeah that highly-anticipated Heinicke spark was very short lived (2 quarters). Time to stop beating around the bush and do everything you can to support the guy you have for the long run.
QB isn’t the biggest issue with this team.
100% agree
Nah you’re right the Heinecke experiment was by no means any more successful hell we almost came back in a game when we put Ridder in…
My conclusion isn’t all of a sudden that Ridder is like super underrated or anything though, i just assume both guys are bad and we really need a new qb.
Ridder is probably better than he’s looked this year in a better offensice scheme, but he and Heinecke are probably career backups and this season is probably a wash, and that’s ok (and even if it’s not ok i can at least accept it)
Change some personnel and move on (easier said than done)
My thesis is that Grady Jarrett was the anchor of our defense & that’s why we’re seeing weekly Game-Winning drives every 4th Quarter since he’s been gone
If you’re such a Ridder fan then you’d know he wasn’t taken out. He got hurt. This post is mentally challenged.
Legitimately every single hardcore Ridder supporter is trying thier best to convince everyone that he’s a NFL starter and that we should forego adding to the position. And when people don’t agree (which they have the right to) the double down and when that doesn’t work, “this fanbase is stupid”, “you don’t know football” x,y,z… They legit parrot the same thing and it’s getting annoying. Support the guy but nobody else has to. Jesus Christ
Would love to see some of the agility…accuracy and humility. Because lacking those are basically what got him benched. Like…literally.
“I became a Falcon fan because of Ridder”
JESUS. CHRIST.
Copium is toxic in high doses like this, hope OP is ok.
Ridder should finish out the season and unless he has a HUGE turnaround then we’re drafting a qb anyways so whatever let the guy finish.
Exactly; I did not see this article but I was just thinking- with Ridder as starter we were 4-3 and led the NFC South but now the Falcons are 4-6.
He has had more than one 300+ yard passing game this year and in many respects was progressing.
