This was quite unexpected. Most were expecting them to be sold out in minutes. So, was everyone who wanted to get the limited edition able to order it? Seems like Valve had a lot more limited edition stock than we thought.
It’s just very expensive, I was already apprehensive about getting an OLED while I already have the LCD version. Still waiting on steam deck 2
for me it was 100% the etched glass, didnt want that with an Oled.
They said they had stock and constant production. I think the initial volumes sold out because shipping changed from 3 to 5 days to 6 to 10.

Yup. It’s Ok with me. I didn’t value it based on quantity available, I just thought it looked cool.
Often limited editions are bought for their resale value to collectors. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m a lot less likely to buy a second hand OLED device.
Also if people wait, there’s probably going to be a choice in colours later on.
Good on Valve, this is what I was hoping for all along. Allowing everyone who wants one to get one at launch is great. It deters scalpers and is very pro happy customer. Nintendo is great about offering their LE consoles as well.
I was planning on getting one, but I decided not to. I don’t use my steamdeck often (only on trips) and I’m more interested in SteamDeck 2 that’s a much bigger upgrade. I’d really love OLED and the battery life improvements, but it’s not a big enough upgrade to justify losing $300 on my current one.
Yeah I bit the financially irresponsible bullet and bought an LE today. Justifying it by convincing myself that it’s more internal storage than my 512 LCD lol
