Once we lost Tyus Jones, Melton, and Brooks I knew it was going downhill. I’m of the “hot” take that Ja needed to be traded for value, retain that 3, and use the value from Ja to balance out the roster with whatever needed. The Grizzlies played way better TEAM ball without Ja and with Tyus Jones. Now that he’s gone and Ja is still here. I hate this roster.

Team ball wins Championships, and Ja isn’t a team ball oriented player. And he never will be.

Some of you just don’t want to face reality: Tyus Jones was not going to start for the Grizzlies. DeAnthony Melton was not going to start for the Grizzlies. You can pretend that they were just happy riding the bench and would have continued to do so indefinitely had we not traded them but the fact is they wanted to be in situations (starting roles) that we couldn’t provide. Because they certainly weren’t going to bench Bane to start Melt or bench Ja and start Tyus. Were they supposed to run a four guard lineup with Jaren at the 5 or something? That’s fantasy land.

I think Tyus is a terrific point guard but the Wizards have a 2–10 record and they only have one player hurt (and not a starter). I’m not saying it’s Tyus’ fault but he’s not on a team that’s talentless or hobbled by injuries and they still manage to have an even worse record than we do.

As for Dillon Brooks… look, I will always have love for him and I wish him well but none of us should have selective memory over why he and the Grizzlies parted ways. On a team with Ja, Bane and Trip, Dillon was going to be fourth option on offense and yet he was shooting as much or more than Desmond Bane. That was never going to work out. The fact that he’s shooting less now is kind of a big “FUCK YOU!” because it means he totally could have shot less but chose not to (I’m still not convinced this will last the season; he’ll be back to his old ways eventually).
