The lawsuit, filed on October 30, states that that Microsoft, Epic Games, Activision Blizzard, EA, and others “use patented designs, algorithms and marketing containing addictive features and technology” leading to addiction. These designs and “addictive features”, the claim says utilized data collection of minors, predatory monetization schemes, and feedback loops to keep players more engaged.

Looks like Valve wins again with Epic getting sued

    Sad parents.

If we’re being honest, they have grounds for this suit. However, depending on the language of the suit, they may be way off base. If a game is rated M, they have NO leg to stand on. Beyond that? Predatory systems for games designed for children need to be addressed.

Yup so many laws/regs exist because parents don’t want to parent, ruining things for everyone else in the process.

Kinda feel conflicted about this, on one hand it’s bad parenting but on the other hand a lot of games are being made addictive as opposed to fun so maybe this would discourage predatory behaviour from larger games companies if they could potentially be held accountable for stuff like loot box gambling.

I’m suing my college because I couldn’t get a high enough paying job and became a gamer instead of traveling the world at 30 with my fiancée. Hey give us a break here we’re lowering carbon emissions.

Just stop buying your child video games!? the average game now is like 70 bucks or more here in Canada, its not like your kid can go buy a game with his or hers milk money lol If you buy a kid a game just set boundaries. Its not the Developers fault they make good products!

As much as i despise modern game design, i also despise modern parenting.

I don’t support the parents here, because you all have full control and knowledge of what your children play. You have no excuse to not parent your kids. It’s not the companies’ jobs to care about your kids.

Do your jobs instead of blaming irrelevant crap for your failures.

Saw a identical article a few weeks ago. Parents need to oh i don’t know parent the child. Plus video game companies have really good lawyers anyway. People without a brain really shouldn’t have kids
