like, maybe it’s bc I hadn’t seen the newest Indiana Jones movie but like I don’t see why Matt & Trey are ripping on Disney for making things more diverse. I get it can considered pandering, but idk I like seeing myself on screen ( I’m a black f ) so like i don’t really care what it takes to see that.

and I didn’t get the whole handyman thing, like do people really not know how to fix their own house like idk maybe I just wasn’t the target audience lol

The problem with race and gender pandering bullshit is that it’s lazy copout that coasts on the repertoire of an existing product. If you want rep, just make new characters.

Speaking as a woman, I’ve also personally never given a shit if the characters I’m watching / playing are female. Them being male doesn’t mean I relate to them less or I can’t “see myself” in them.
That’s like toddler-tier levels of empathy.

I think I just have to disagree. I feel like there are certain things about being a woman and specifically being a woman of color that a white man could never portray. I mean just take like movie Superbad and compare it to Mean Girls. Sure, they are both about high schoolers, but I relate significantly more to Mean Girls than Superbad. Which is why I don’t see a problem with race & gender pandering.

I do agree with create new diverse characters tho, but honestly I’ll just take what I can get lol
