My girlfriend tried to start the car. As soon as she turned the key there was a loud bang, like something exploded.

There is no smoke, but heat comes out of the engine and it slightly smells like …acidic maybe?

The lights slightly turn on but that’s it, the engine won’t start.

Any ideas?
