Welcome to the tailgate thread!
Use this thread to discuss the upcoming Bucs game, any college sports, or any tailgating/pre-gaming shenanigans!
Also, if you got a bar or similar meeting spot where Bucs fans can enjoy the glorious dub together, this is the place to let us know. (If this turns into shameless promotion, we might change this…)
I’m approaching this game as follows: 1 The 49ers are an elite team. 2 The Bucs are not (but hopefully they will be an above average, good team before the end of the season) 3 The Bucs are probably going to lose 4 The Bucs don’t have to win this game to win the division, so it’s okay 5 Hopefully, it will be interesting, and not over by the start of the 4th quarter
If this makes me a “doomer”, so be it.
I haven’t followed college football too much and aside from the draft period I don’t pay too much attention to every player or whatever.
This year I tried watching a bit more and…
My suspicions are correct.
The draft rankings are fucking bullshit.
Now, I apologize in advance to people that do follow this stuff more than me but…
Calleb is the “unanimous #1 pick” ??
I was always under the impression that majority of QB prospects for example are hella underrated but…
???
Calleb doesn’t look that fantastic to me???
Like, why is he presented as this franchise savior?
Not just him, it’s always like this with players but this year my suspicions are confirmed.
Can someone tell me why Penix is rated as “potential pick #19” on the draft when he looks pretty good??? Why is Jayden Daniels ranked as “potential pick 49” right now???
Like, what am I missing.
Would a team choosing Penix as #1 draft pick be considerd “holy shit they fucked up wow what a reach holy shit they messed up wow” ? If so…why?
Idk, the draft rankings to me are weird, I don’t think they are accurate and almost every year we see something like the 9th pick having a better career than the first pick.
Will Levis is the latest example. Imagine if he ends up being the better QB out of him and Bryce Young? And now imagine how hated Panthers would’ve been if they chose him over Young… (also yeah, i feel that franchises have a big say in the development in players, Panthers would’ve messed up any potential in any QB, but that’s not my point here)
