I’d say neither, you can try those portable 1080p oled screens if you want to get a better image out of it.
A big tv really stretches out what the steamdeck can render. Whilst 800p looks great on such a small screen it will not maintain that on a 55" TV. If you already need to get a TV though and attaching the deck with VRR (supported by most modern tvs)
A gaming monitor is often mostly characterized by its high framerate, which you won’t reach on the deck, low response times that only matter at higher framerates. Hdr is still not great here and buying a gaming monitor just for the deck is not worth the desk usage.
