Yeah yeah, Godwin should’ve been looking for the ball. But we wouldn’t have been in this situation if it wasn’t for a series of boneheaded decisions by our coaches who clearly refuse to leverage analytics in game to make the right decisions.

Before you jump down my throat and say “well we don’t know how the game would’ve played out”, just listen and maybe you’ll start to realize the future of the game and how it is being played by good teams.

Q1 4th and 2 and BUF 32 we kick a 50yd FG that is blocked. Which would’ve tied the game…instead of going for it. Which at worst leads to BUF starting a drive at the 32 and at best, keeps the drive alive and potentially leads to a TD for the Bucs. This then leads to the Bills marching all the way down the field but our defense “saves us” and stops them at the 1 after they go for it. Despite a valiant stop, BUF is still in a great spot here. BUF realizes that going for it is the right thing to do as kicking a FG doesn’t put you up by more than one score and at worst it puts the Bucs in a rough situation with the end zone at their back. This then leads to a punt that is retuned to the 23 and a subsequent TD for the Bills.

That’s the game right there folks. You have to leverage these situations and this is what separates the good teams headed in the right direction from the good teams headed in the wrong direction.

Until we have a staff and FO that are willing to utilize every tool at their disposal this will continue to be a good team with poor results. We don’t even have an analytics team, we have one person and it’s used for FO decisions not in-game decisions. The Ravens, Eagles, and many other good teams realize this while those teams with old school mentalities are limiting themselves every single game.

Anyways, don’t blame Godwin, blame this coaching staff and FO for refusing to adapt.

Another issue was when Buffalo had the ball after that Evans TD. We had a 3rd and 5 I believe. Bowles sends a nickel blitz and leaves Diggs completely uncovered. It was a bad time to call THAT blitz. You don’t blitz the corner that’s covering their best receiver. Gave them a first down and eventually led us to having under 30 seconds at the end
