This is an issue we have had for a while. The shifter usually worked and only occasionally would be an issue. We found out the shifter would release it the wires above the brake pedal were jiggled a bit. To the point where the driver could just bump them with their toe and it would release the shifter.
At the moment I just need to move the vehicle around the yard, it’s not going on the road, and it’s not in the best condition, so I’m open to any quick fixes, as well as the right thing to do.
At some point someone wrapped the one wire (I’m assuming it’s part of the problem) where it had been either spliced or saudered together.
The last time I tried to move the truck, I tried the jiggle the wire trick with no luck. I did find a very hot wire which had melted the glue from the electrical tape around the splice and that area was grounding out and arcing on something. I turned it off and left it alone after that.
Thanks in advance!
