And what are you expecting out of him this season? I noticed he looked like a good facilitator during fast breaks. Except when he had those two quick turnovers in a row. I’m sure he’ll learn from that.
the main thing I want to see from him this season is just being more efficient offensively. finish better at the rim, and if he can improve to be just an average 3pt shooter that will unlock so much for him.
he committed himself to a defensive identity once he understood that his offensive touches would be limited around Beal/Kuzma/KP/Poole/Rui. That takes a lot for a guy like deni who has been given the green light on almost every single team he has been on his entire life.
the aggression he showed in game 1, on ball drives from the top of the arc to the rim were really great to watch. Seemed like he had figured some stuff out. Flashed a little bit of left hand finesse.
Now that aggression became a bit misplaced during that Pacers game (fighting Gafford for rebounds, looking for his shot, not looking for the best shot), but he clearly gives a shit.
This sub is 90% deni posts
Never has so much ink been spilled over a role player. I swear, if not for his legion of Israeli fans he would be a footnote on an otherwise unremarkable team.
And it came from an OP who has Poole in his nickname. :)
On the one hand, is Israeli fans are now mostly busy with the war stuff, work (trying to reduce the news), how the Shekel is getting the weaker, and if you are student, the new academic season got delayed by at least 2 months.
On the other hand, there might be more Israelis watch him than ever before. Especially when there are sirens now and then, so at least they can get some comfort and hope by watching Deni Avdija play. Including soldiers who do reserve and waiting for orders, and etc.
Some got even more time than before, or having trouble sleeping due to the constant stress of whether or not there will be a siren or not (plenty of missiles were launched today, and now the northern front might escalate with Israel pushing further into Gaza).
Besides, everyone is more or less sort of a role player in the Wizards. Kuzma might be a bit more, but it’s not like we have an-allstar or something.
