My wife grew more and more interested in the Rockets this season and we have watched all the games this year together. Last night, in the last instalment of the Silver Special, I saw her lose almost all interest in the sport. Jalen Green jumps with no contact, he gets called for farting in their general direction. Clippers start hacking at people on their way to a layup and it’s just ball. Tried to explain to her the reasons (the chip on the LAC to get a win, their “star power”, what this means for the league and the tournament, etc.). But when asked “Why don’t they do something about it then?”, I literally have no answer. Please know NBA that this little stiffy you have for star padded teams is one hell of a double edged sword. I’m sure you have made a lot existing fans happy with this but each time, you are losing people who just started to watch your league. Can the refs at least try to not make it look so one sided so we can normally introduce our loved ones to the sport? Getting that L in regular season is normal, but when that L stands for Las Vegas, it leaves a very bad taste in these people’s mouths. Please understand already that it is very hard for a new fan of any sports to enjoy things when games are this blatantly rigged. XOXO, a long time NBA fan that wants to watch normal basketball with his family.
