Hi! I am looking for a rugged outdoor automatic watch that I can use when I fish and hike. I really like the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Titanium but it’s a bit too expensive. Looking for something under 5k and no bigger than 42mm. Any good suggestions?
You’re not going to like this answer, but get a G-Shock for hiking and fishing. If you’re truly looking for something robust and functional you can’t beat it. Save the luxury watches for when you’re not doing those activities…
Marathon probably
Makes me wet fr, thats a better and more rugged alt to sinn 104. Even better lols. Actually i think i like that one vetter than the 104
Fishing on a yacht, I assume.
Ever eaten a Cheeseburger with a hublot inside? I haven’t.
I think the Omega Speedmaster is a fairly rugged watch. I believe it went to the moon?
Premium:
- Sinn
Semi-premium:
- Victorinox
True answer: don’t use automatic watches for sports or going into rough conditions. Get a Casio (G Shock or Duro), BOLDR (fantastic for this and versatile), Marathon, etc.
Sinn, Squale, G shock
Lack just completed DIN 8330 testing on their new watch.

But honestly, truly rugged is a G-Shock (which I know doesn’t fit the automatic criteria).
Bro, what? 😂
