So I was stoked beyond belief about Baldurs Gate 3, Alan Wake 2, Starfield, Assassins Creed Mirage, Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty and played them all and loved them but every one is about 50%-75% finished. At this point my computer has nothing installed on it but The Talos Principle 2 (which is great) and I just can’t seem to find something to hold my attention. Is there anyone out there that is a lifelong gamer that just can’t seem to keep your interest all the way through? I built a brand new PC for these games and they all worked and looked beautiful but man I just can’t keep it going.
TLDR - Old school gamer can’t seem to keep interest in games to finish them anymore, anyone else?
I feel like it’s often the emotion-invoking experiences that are missing. This is why I enjoy gaming couch coop with a friend more now adays. We play resident evil and other horror games online as well, and they keep the kick alive. This is why roguelikes are also high up my list. I enjoy the beaty of games with ray tracing and everything maxed out, but seem to enjoy everything even more when playing with a friend. So even each playing the same single player game online while talking over Discord is fun for me. Then there’s the story modes, being a father and working man, I don’t crank up the difficulties anymore like I used to. Story modes are fine and keeps the game going. My issue is also the abundance of games, no answer to that tbh… I often look at all the options I have and find it hard to descide. So indeed sticking to one game and not always changing is the solution for me there… But like already addressed, if you don’t enjoy it anymore then stop playing it.
