The Falcons were 4-3 and leading the NFC South when Ridder was pulled after a bad first half in the Titans game.
The Falcons (with Ridder no longer the starter) are now 4-6.
This year Ridder did show progression and signs of excellence (300+ yard and multi-TD games) as a QB relative to what other great quarterbacks of the past demonstrated as they improved.
Do you believe that it would be prudent to let Desmond finish the year as starter and evaluate from there? We are still just a game from leading the NFC South but now the Falcons are 4-6 instead of 4-3.
We wasn’t 4-3 because of him , we was 4-3 despite of him … the elite defense when everybody was healthy and koo was winning us games … not the qb who was leading the league in turnovers & leading us to put up 16 ppg … it don’t really matter at this point , our future qb isn’t on the roster
Desmond Ridder is our franchise QB. If Art is here to stay through 2024, chances are Des is here through 2024.
People will downvote this because they think a young QB shouldn’t make young mistakes meanwhile they think drafting penix or Daniels will automatically throw for Pat Mahomes MVP numbers.
I’m on board for them but also don’t think we should write off ridder without giving him a chance to really develop before moving.
Heineke ain’t it. Doesn’t elevate us. Doesn’t make us better so it’s nonsense to keep running with him.
Des truther, checking in for the downvotes. Couple of us in this thread. Bring forth the Riddler!
Start Ridder…
Let the young QB be a young QB…
As far as I’m concerned there is not a way where this works out poorly for Atlanta…
If he blossoms, great! We have our QB!
If not, great! We have us a solid back up for the next few seasons and we go hard in Free Agency or the Draft for a QB…
It is facts that the offense scores more points with Heinicke than Ridder. The run game and defense propped Ridder up for some of those wins. Since Grady got hurt the defense hasn’t been holding up. I expect disaster with Ridder starting and a leaky defense. The season is essentially over.
