My buddy is gonna move in there so trying to get best solution to get it internet, it is just on the outer range of my wifi signal so it would be spotty in there if he was able to pick any wifi up at all. I have looked at doing a mesh system like the TP-Link Deco AXE5400 but don’t want to spend $200 on it, is there a cheaper option? I do have 1Gb download speeds which is the only reason I looked at that model.

Another option we could do is run some cat5 cable (I have a big box and connections and crimp) to the building, there is an old telephone line that goes to it from the main house the the ethernet cable could follow and replace but that is a lot more time and effort.

Is there a cheaper mesh option that will still get decent speeds over there and also have an ethernet port or two? Or is there a good quality wifi antenna that is actually worth it? It is about 40ft or so from my router but there are a few walls etc that the single has to go through.

A mesh system is the only realistic way unless you run cable. You get what you pay for. 200 bucks for a deco mesh is a deal.

    Stop being a cheap ass.
