Every desktop and laptop I’ve owned since the Windows XP era has always gathered dust inside after several months of intensive gaming, which makes sense with the amount of air being pulled through the case to cool the key components. But when opening up my LCD Deck after over a year of near-daily use, it was completely clean, even around the back vent area where I would’ve expected to find plenty of dust buildup.

Has this also been the experience for other Deck users? If that’s the case, is there a logical explanation for that, assuming it’s not some kind of dust-repulsion technology Valve included without telling anyone?

Just a guess: Since your other gaming hardware is like “unlimited powrr!”, the steam deck is heavily optimized for saving energy. Therefore I wouldn’t be suprised if the electic fields generated by the hardware are much weaker and therefore might not affect dust as much. As dustparticles with an electric charge might stick to your parts better than “normal” particles. Just think of the simple example with the static loaded ballon that sticks to your clothing.
