I started a business a month ago. I have been able to sell for about 1k more or less. The problem is I don’t have an LLC yet, or any legal part of the “business” done. Now I got myself a mentor to help me out he is telling me not to get an LLC but get insurance instead since I am a 1 woman operation. I have a chance to expand my business, which I’ve been dreaming about so I’m so scared. I don’t have an LLC, I don’t even have the insurance yet, I don’t know which to get. I am in NY so the LLC is a little expensive😅 Ik what you’re thinking.”if you don’t have money for the LLC you’re not ready for business” I’ve heard this before but it’s like I don’t want to get it right now and business doesn’t go as planned. I also would like to start whole selling but I don’t have an EIN or business license which places are asking me for. Honestly it makes me feel so discouraged because I feel so lost, yes I started the business but the legal part is making me feel overwhelmed. I have an appointment with an accountant next week but I wanted some advice from people here as well. Thank you.
Edit: the product I have that I want to expand with is an oil. I don’t make it myself, it came from my country. My wholesaler told me that her oils are inspected at the border before she sells them to people. I didn’t ask for any proof but I have a voice not of what she said(should I have asked for proof?)
Y’all please don’t judge me lol. I just need some guidance right now. I’m (19F btw)
