Personally to me, Coby feels like he is more suited as a sixth man player but i think he’s ok this season

i’m sure he’ll get better down the stretch

I’ve had really high expectations for Coby for this season and unfortunately he hasn’t met them. I think his passing has been decent, defensively he’s serviceable. The biggest problem by far is his shooting. He’s currently bottom 5% in the league in true shooting% which is simply not good enough for a starter and is costing us. Only Pat has shot worse on the team. I do think that this is going to change at some point because he has never shot this bad in his career and hopefully it’s just a major slump.

If you’re trying to have a winning team, Coby can’t be your starting PG.

He’s probably better as a combo guard off the bench.

I think he’d be better used off the bench with Carter starting. His game doesn’t really jive with DeMar.

His shooting needs to improve. Right now, of all the guys in the NBA shooting 5-6 threes per game, only Wemby, Marcus Smart, Franz Wagner, and PJ Washington are shooting worse. If we move the needle to guys shooting 4.5 to 6.5 threes per game, we can add Kevin Love, Brandon Ingram, Jokic, Taurean Prince, Julius Randle and Terry Rozier.

Three point shooting is and has been one of the Bulls weaknesses so Cobys impact relies heavily on hitting his long shot. If he isn’t, he falls into a group with guys like Prince, Terry, and PJ…dudes on bad to average teams with poor splits. Everyone else mentioned has proven themselves in other areas or are showing us what kind of player they can be. If Coby continues to slump after the team is retooled, then maybe he just doesn’t have the stuff and we move on. I’ve always been bothered by his short arms, it’s rare for a player to have a wingspan less than their height and find success in the league.

I want to see what he looks like as the #1 or 2 option with the keys to the offense for a decent stretch of time. That’ll probably never happen.
