Fast forwarding in hindsight to the Rams competitive 3-4 start to the season. Assuming he didn’t get hurt was the Ramsey trade still worth it? We traded one of if not the best cornerback in the league (younger than our big 3 btw) in a salary dump and we’ve brown so many big defensive possessions in games especially last one with one of his replacements Derion Kendrick (despite how good Witherspoon has been). With the resurgence of Stafford and the emergence of Puka, Kyren, and Tutu, was it still work it making that deal (assuming he doesn’t get hurt)?
I can’t say I’m mad about Byron young being the pick we obtained, but as already mentioned the real value of the trade will be how we utilize the cap flexibility next offseason.
Really we can look at this two ways. If the rams are still a Super Bowl contender in one’s eyes, was trading away Jalen a huge reason we’re 3-4.
Or if we’re truly a rebuilding team, did we make the right decision by trading Ramsey instead of having him as we get ready for a contender push the next season.
I love Jalen. I have a Ramsey jersey, he will ALWAYS be my guy. But I think we’re not there yet to be a contender for the NFC crown this season. We made the right move to trade Jalen and give ourselves a young prospect and some cap flexibility in 24. We’ll always have ‘21 and SB 56.
