I’ve recently had the idea to make an application, the application would be similar to discord, in regards to the aspect of live chatting with different communities. I have the skills to create the application, but there is a future problem I’m noticing at the moment.

A tough aspect of starting a social media application is that it needs content at the start to attract and to keep users entertained. If you were to download a social media app without any content, chances are, you would delete it immediately.

This can be solved by creating and posting content before the initial release of the application.

This gets more complex with an application that’s based on live chatting. I won’t be able to find a hundred people to just chat in communities 24/7. How would I start off such a application?

Obviously, focusing the scope of the application to a specific community would be greatly useful, but still, the challenge would remain.

I was thinking that perhaps, much like what Reddit did when starting out, I could implement bots to use AI technology and chat with users, until there are enough users to keep the chat going on it’s own. There are flaws with this method as well, many of which I’m sure you guys can see.

How would you go about intitally launching such as application?
