The thing that really convinced me to play through the first hours of Prey (2017) was all the HUD possibilities. I really like being given control over what info I want and don’t want to see on my screen. Objetcive markers, reminders and waypoints are usually a distraction in big first-person exploration games for me, so I really enjoyed the possibility of removing them on that game.
On the other hand, when I played Resident Evil 2 Remake, I wanted that genuine survival horror experience, so I gave it a try without any HUD (no ammo count on screen). Unfortunately, this also turned off the aim reticle, which is a big turn down for me. And the game gives you no option in-between: see all or see nothing.
