I don’t have any friends that play League, so I’m posting this here cos I just wanna tell someone.

We all know that after you have a hefty win streak, the Gods of Bad Luck decide that enough’s enough, and you go on a loss streak. Sometimes it’s 5 games, sometimes it’s 20. Maybe not in a row, but enough losses to make you drop a few ranks. Well those gods have been playing some weird games with me.

This split, I had been doing relatively well. After a rough start, I evened out at around 50-55% winrate. I very slowly climbed, and managed to reach Silver 1 97LP. One more win and I’m in gold. But I lost, and then lost again, and again, and the losses didn’t stop. For an entire month, probably 80 games, my winrate tanked to around 35%. I dropped to Silver 4 0LP, and my demotion shield actually began to expire. I was playing with mid bronzes in my games. I had changed nothing about my playstyle, and was continuing to play my one trick, who hadn’t been cracked over the head with the nerfbat, so I had no idea why I couldn’t win (and tbh I still have no idea).
But then right as I was worried I was going to be demoted to Bronze, I started to win. And win some more, and more, to the point where over the last 3 weeks/60 games, my winrate has exploded to 65%. I’m now in Gold 3. I still haven’t changed my champion played or my playstyle.

I don’t get it. Normally a loss streak is few a few days at most, and it’s just a case of bad luck and/or tilt affecting your mental game. But I had the worse run I’ve ever had for a month straight, and then overnight it turned into the best run I’ve ever had. And I’ve been Gold in previous seasons, so it’s not like I’m playing out of my depth. If anything, I’m playing below what I’m used to, due to the ranked distribution shifting around.

Has anyone else had a run such as this? Any idea what causes it?
