I’ll continue to go against the grain about this game.
I’m seeing the Getsy play calling in the 4th getting a lot of crap, but I really think it was unwarranted. They dominated the time of possession. They were choking out the Lions. Why wouldn’t the Bears let their o-line and their offense do what they do best and just maul the Lions.
We can criticize the Bears for that 3 and out that ended in the Scott drop in hindsight, but every team in the NFL runs up the middle in that situation. And it would have been moot if Scott doesn’t slow up his route. The problem was execution, not play calling.
On the other side of the ball, however, we can totally tear into the 4th quarter defensive play calling. At the end of the day, the bears lost because they let the Lions get 2tds in, like, 2 minutes. They didn’t blitz Goff. And then some bad mistakes by players really just dropped the ball.
At the end of the day, The Bears were beating one of the best teams in the NFL, but good teams can overcome mistakes and bad teams can’t. The Bears couldn’t.
