The grand final of the LoL World Championship between T1 vs Weibo was watched by 6.4 million people - this is a record for all eSports. The previous record also belonged to LoL – the 2022 finals
For comparison, the TI 2023 final was watched by 1.4 million people
Our viewerships are levels of CSGO and Valorant.
If you think those two games are “dead”, then I guess it’s time for you to rethink your definition of dead.
Listen, let me tell you something, there are players who play both dota or LoL, however, the majority is, either Dota or Lol.
Why Lol more? Unfortunately, it is beginner friendly and as more that of a anime aesthetic going for them.
Lol markets themselves more. They produce songs, so many skins, even provide ads.
Due to which many who don’t even play the game, just watch it for the opening of the finals and what not.
Those who play dota, play dota- you have to remember it is a hassle to change game, because one has to learn new mechanics and shit like that. However, we do have, even tho filled with toxic shit people, have one of the most dedicated fanbase- did you forget, we had the largest esposrt prize pool of all time? Juse beacsuse this year, the amount and certain stuff weren’t meant, does not mean it is a dead game.
6 Years ago people said dead game. 4 years ago. 2 Years ago. A Year ago.
If its a dead game, why so much players still? Why can I still start a game every time? Why can I still connect to the game and to the community?
Hell even our Underlords game is not dead and that hasn’t been updated for two fucking years.
Think before you type these posts man, we are dota players we don’t need to compare to Lol, its a different shit, we are different shit.
End of the day, enjoy whatever the fuck you want.
Popularity was and never will be a sign of quality.
I really think people take for granted how good the technical part of Dota is. The in game view, the plug-ins with twitch, the replays, fight retrospective.
The same depth that dota fans love in their game, that absolutely no other moba is close to achieve, it has on the technical parts for us viewers too.
I see so many people complaining here that I feel some of you have forgotten how crazy good Dota 2 is as an esport.
