The character of Fanshawe took me by surprise. I felt simultaneously related to and angry at him. I could completely understand his need to isolate himself from the world, especially in an era where privacy and truly alone, disconnected time seems to be hard to find. I could also see how taking it to the extreme actually does more hurt than good.
I felt compelled to write about my experience going through The Locked Room. It made me reflect about myself in ways I didn’t think a detective novel could.
