I know there wasn’t much of an online community back in 2003 when the comics first started, but are there any old timers here that read the comics when they first came out? How popular was the series when it first started?

I’ll admit I didn’t see it coming. A lot of people either forget or weren’t reading when it first came out, but even the entire premise of the comic was itself a twist. It was heavily marketed as “It’s hard being a superhero when your Dad’s the most famous hero on the planet!” or even a slightly updated version of the “teenage hero” troupe, and we all thought that’s what we were getting.
So when Nolan did what he did, it was like “Okay, this book is going somewhere totally different.”
