In 31 minutes per game the last 7 games, Cam has been a monster. He’s consistently taken on the toughest defensive assignment of anyone playing 1-4, he’s created more transition opportunities with live ball steals than maybe anyone else in the league in this stretch, he’s been hitting his corner 3s, and overall he’s hustling like an absolute maniac.

In all but 2 of these games, his plus/minus has exceeded the final score differential, he’s had no more than 1 turnover in any of these games, and he’s been a consistent source of 3-4 free throws a game where he’s knocking them down at a solid 80% clip.

Most of all, he’s not interrupting anything. He plays within his role on both ends, he hounds the point of attack and hinders the initiation of opposing offences, he’s denying passes really well, and most of all he’s been navigating screens really well, something we haven’t had from anyone since Gabe’s injury.

If he and Vando can combine to shoot about 37% from the corner when open, then flanking them with Austin, Bron/Rui, and AD can create one of the most devastating defensive lineups in the league. I’m not sure any team is equipped to handle that combination of size, length, and especially ball pressure, not to mention 3 of those 5 are great to elite weak side helpers, and all of them are transition threats.

All this to say, I’m absolutely loving what we’re seeing from Cam right now, and his success opens up a million different opportunities for the team.

He’s also a great transition defender. He and and Vando are going to make opposing team’s life hell.
