For everybody out there to get Zion for his attitude, defense, conditioning… And for everyone who with a negative outlook on the team.

I’m not here to defend him but to say let’s just be patient. 13 games into the season we’re 6-7 and we started 6-6 last year before making the run to the top of the west while the Pels and Zion were playing their best ball. Getting CJ, Jose, and Trey back are huge for Zion and for the team in general and I think getting those extra minutes for young cats during their absence (Dyson, Hawk, Ryan) is going to be huge for this team as we go deeper into the season (Would kill to see the offense with a Zion-BI-CJ-Hawk-Trey lineup).

Zion was horrific on defense to begin last season as well even in the “best shape of his life.” But, when the team got hot in december before his unfortunate injury, Zion made drastic improvements on defense.

By the time he got hurt, he was actually a plus defender over a stretch of 10-12 games or so prior. I think this improvement more had to do with his conditioning improving by playing games than just pure effort. For that reason I do believe the same thing can happen this season (hopefully no serious injuries this time) and Zion’s game will get better as he plays more games.

This is right around the time the team took off last season and I like the looks of our schedule over the next month to string wins together while getting back some of our key pieces. I have no doubt this team is a contender if it stays relatively healthy because the roster is too deep with exceptional talent on both sides of the ball.
