The LCSPA and its player leadership were informed by Riot behind the scenes this past week regarding the decision to exit Evil Geniuses and Golden Guardians from the LCS without replacement. The sudden loss of jobs harms our members. For a second time this year, Riot and teams have left players out of the decision-making process and left players out to dry because of organizational mismanagement and 11th hour decision-making. The released players and players who are having verbal agreements not honored will not have the fair opportunity to seek work elsewhere as most rosters are completed or committed to by the time of today’s announcement. The LCSPA has called on Riot privately to balance the loss of opportunity with improvements to LCS and NACL conditions for 2024.

Notwithstanding the LCSPA’s immediate concerns with today’s decision, we believe that removing struggling organizations instead of replacing them can be a step towards a better, more open LCS in the future. Only when players have their voices fully heard, can we all build a better future for the LCS than what franchising has delivered so far. The LCSPA and Riot are actively working on a structure to give players a seat during the decision-making process for those long-term plans.

These are challenging times, but above all, we love League of Legends and we want a world where the LCS has a bright future. Our focus is on working diligently with Riot and teams to create that future. We will make every effort to hold all sides accountable. Any short term actions must be balanced with a better long term strategy for the LCS.

    Then why is someone like Licorice who is from that team saying he knows about it only today. If the PA knew a week before, why not inform the affected players atleast, if not all the players.

    They put out nice PR statements blaming teams and Riot but what have they actually done about anything all these years ? What did they do to Danny ? What did they do to all the academy players? What have they done to all the players in GG and EG ?

    LCSPA is even bigger scam and just PR machine than Riot.
