I am looking to replace a Synology RT6600AX and UI ER-X with either a UI Dream Machine Pro or a TP-Link Omada ER8411. Synology is used for “Regular” data and the ER-X is dedicated to our IP Phone system. I currently have 2 TP-Link outdoor EAPs and they work well, but I am unfamiliar with their routers. I have no UI equipment currently and would only replace 1 indoor AP with a UI AP.
Currently I have
WAN 1: AT&T Fiber, WAN 2: C Spire Fiber (2 months till live)
Regular Data:
- Synology RT6600 AX
- ASUS XT8 (Secondary AP)
- 2x TP-Link EAP650 Outdoor APs managed by Cloud Controller
- Netgear GS308EP Managed Switch
Voice:
- UI ER-X
- Netgear GS308EP Managed Switch
- Grandstream UCM 6302 VoIP Server
- Cisco, Polycom, Grandstream phone mix
The main objectives for the new router are:
- Consolidate into either the Dream Machine or ER8411 and separate networks by VLAN.
- WAN 1 AT&T Fiber 1Gbps
- WAN 2 C Spire Fiber 2Gbps - Failover and Route VLAN to WAN 2 by Policy
- Additional WiFi 6 AP
I know both routers are near top of the line, but C Spire is going to offer up to 8gbps symmetrical so I would like my network to be as “future- proof” as it can be. I have attached a current network topology diagram I quickly drafted in Visio.
