The short and midrange jumper is the least efficient shot on the court. 3 pointers and layups/dunks are way more efficient.

About 45-50% of KD’s shots are short or midrange jumpers. Many are turn around fade aways or 1 foot jumpers. And yet he is still one of the most efficient players (64.7% TS) and volume scorers (31 points per game). Its absolute madness.

Every other high scoring and high efficiency player takes way more efficient shots. Guys like Curry take tons of 3s. Jokic and Embiid take alot of shots at the rim. There is no one else who takes so many mid range jumpers and is at the 63-66% TS level AND scores 28-30 points per game.

Imagine if KD had the luxury of taking 10 threes a game. Or more shots in the restricted area. Dude would be putting up 35 on 70% TS.

Imagine if an entire offense was build around KD like it is for Jokic and Curry. KD never had that luxury. KD has to take so many midrange jumpers to give his teammates more space. Now imagine if the offense was build around KD so he would get more efficient shots.

Its a real tragedy that KD never played for a coach that build an offense around his talents
