Each student can log in to the school network with their school id, but the network only allows 1 device to be connected at a time (connections get reset after a week). I need to use the school network for my laptop so that I can do work but I also need wifi for my phone since there isn’t always service available/it’s slow/costs money. Hotspots from my laptop to my phone have worked in certain circumstances but it’s a hassle and doesn’t work if my laptop is dead and/or I don’t have my laptop (which is the time I need to use my phone the most).

I’ve heard online that you can bypass this by using the same MAC address for your phone (which I’m hoping doesn’t mean I need a rooted one) and laptop (android/windows) because the network identifies devices by their MAC address but 1. I don’t know how to do that and 2. I don’t know if that would cause any issues.
