My husband and I own a small business, this April the property pays off. I’ve been thinking about starting a new LLC that will own the property. My thoughts are, separating it from the business itself might better protect the asset from risk. Secondly, the business could pay the new LLC rent. Thirdly, if we wanted to sell the business but keep the property it would be easier in the long run. We are cautious business owners and do things by the book to protect our hard work. Husband believes this could be considered “shady.” Is it?
