It’s been since 2014 since I built my last computer. At the time I was really into small form factors and mini-itx machines. My current machine has a i7-4790K and GTX-980 on a Asus Z97I-PLUS motherboard with 16 GB of ram. I am getting decent performance playing MMO’s such as World of Warcraft and The Old Republic. I primarily play these types of games on High or Ultra but last few years I have noticed my system struggling to keep up.
I would like to build a new system based around the NZXT aesthetic prioritizing a clean sleek appearance and excellent performance to hopefully get me another 9.5 years of gaming.
Here is the build.

Thanks for sharing yours thoughts and recommendations!
Go with a K vs a KF. Its worth having a back up GPU with the CPU’s iGPU. 4070TI will last you a long time on the current MMOs you play and any new ones you try.
In contrast to CPU’s which seem to last for ever, I’ve had many graphics cards die on me. Integrated graphics suck for gaming, but it’s better than nothing, and it’s a lot easier to switch over to the iGPU than it is to swap out a PCIe card in order to diagnose a problem.
My point: get a K instead of a KF.
Also, regarding the cooler, If you run the chip within Intel’s official specs, you lose something like 3% performance, but it uses about half the power. Point being, you don’t need that cooler. I’m in a similar situation (my PC was build Summer 2013) and picked out a https://pcpartpicker.com/product/MrvD4D/ek-nucleus-aio-cr360-dark-72-cfm-liquid-cpu-cooler-3831109900178
Good price on that cooler for sure! And no rgb.
Yeah, I don’t want my computer turning my office into a disco. It’s surprisingly difficult finding parts at anything but the lowest price point that don’t light up a room.
Does anyone have experience with the N7 motherboard? Is it worth spending more for Asus Strix?
Looks good. I mean it really bugs me that 4070 ti only has 12gb of vram but I suppose it wont be a problem… yet anyway. Also you really don’t have to pay so much for a cooler if you don’t want. The liquid freezer II 240 would be enough and its under $100, or even an air cooler. Perhaps you could put it into a gpu with more vram…?
