For me it was Gerald’s Game by Stephen King. I think it’s a fantastic novel with amazing character development. The main character is extremely realistic and well written. Despite the seemingly silly premise, I was invested throughout the entire thing. The main character’s development is really what sells it for me.

That being said, I am absolutely not reading it again anytime soon. There are two scenes in particular(if you’ve the book I’m sure you know) that managed to make extremely uncomfortable, mortified, and disgusted. My biggest fear is being trapped and helpless, so this book really got to me. Fantastic book, I’m never picking it up again.

Either that or Lord of the Flies… Dear God.

Most of them, to be honest.

I do reread some books, but most books are one and done.

I’ve never re-read anything unless I was reading to my children.

Is that unusual? I’d rather try something new.

Probably any Irvine Welsh novel. I like Irvine Welsh — and Filth in particular is a great novel — but more often than not the way he writes phonetically in heavy Scottish accents can take a lot out of my American public school educated brain.

The entire Harry Potter series, I don’t really remember what happens but it was good for a quality read through

The Count of Monte Cristo. Just too long. I am not the fastest reader so it took me approx. 6 months to read. Just too many other books on my TBR for that kind of comittment again.

Good question. I actually don’t re-read books, because there are so many new ones to discover!

Right now, as I seem to be hyper-focusing on reading as many books as I can, probably all of them. I’m on “The Dirty Dozen”, the fifth book in the Lynda La Plante Tennison series and I’ve loved them all but probably won’t read them again. One book that I’ve reread but always haunts me is The Amber Spyglass. Lyra and Pantalaimon being ripped from each other is so heartbreaking every time 😭

A thousand splendid suns by Khaled Hosseini The story is kind of sad though. Because afganistan people struggle to live there as citizens in the late 80s. Because the war took place around that time. The protagonist is two young females trying to live with the 50 year old husband. But the plot is enjoyable for me. But I won’t want to read it again.

I never read a book twice to be honest with you. Even if I really enjoy it I don’t do that

Les Mis. I’m almost always in the middle of reading it, and I probably technically have reread all of it multiple times, but I skip around to whatever chapter I feel like reading lol (and yes sometimes that is the sewer bit).

Brandon Sanderson “The Way of Kings” is probably the best high fantasy book I’ve read and probably the best high fantasy novel that could exist. But it’s like 900 pages, I loved that book to death but I’m not reading it again when I could read 3-4 new books. I’d recommend it though.
