Defensively, we look much more quick to the ball so far this season and I like how we go for every 50/50 ball without overgambling. Much better efforts in half court help and rebounding.
Offensively, I don’t know if we should just ASSUME Ime is doing a fantastic job because of spamming Fred Vanvleet, Sengun pick and rolls.
As good as Sengun has played so far there is sort of a weird lack of creativity in our offense that has been getting a little exposed in these last three games.
Does the spacing seem a little wonky to anyone else? There have been almost no instances I can remember of interior to interior passing, and while Senguns assist numbers are fine right now when you watch the games it’s hard to see why. Similarly on the wings, teams are playing way up on us. The whole floor just seems clogged.
I think one of the downsides of having FVV as your point guard is that his size really cramps the floor in a weird way because the primary defender is fine to play right on him and not worry too much about giving up the drive. This means everyone else can stay pretty attached as well.
We are just seriously lacking in easy points. And I hate to say it because of how poor of an actual PG he was, but KPJ’s shooting did open the floor a lot. Everything besides what Sengun gets is difficult right now.
The team still isn’t where it could be on the offensive end. There still isnt enough motion and cutting and too many bad shots getting taken early in the shot clock
