Najee doesn’t get too much love on here these days, but without his post-game rant to the media about how he’s tired of this shit and how something needs to change, I’m not so sure Canada gets fired before the offseason.
It might be the thing that pushed it all over the edge and forced Tomlin’s and Rooney’s hands to not lose the locker room, and if so, he has made a far more valuable contribution than anything he could have done on the field.
They had a players-only meeting and suddenly Canada is fired.
That’s enough for me to assume that the player’s only meeting went bad for Canada and Art II finally listened to the players.
First thing I thought of when I heard about the firing. No way the two aren’t connected (Najee’s comments and Canada’s firing).
When Najee is in it is going to be a run up the middle almost every time. It is easy for the defense to stop the run if they know what the play is every time.
I was talking JUST YESTERDAY about how I really respected Najee.
We were beyond the point of blaming the players, always parroting the answer “We just need to work harder.”
He forced their hand to either fire Canada or bench another player calling a spade a spade and ose the locker room (or have linemen do an ‘ole’ block). After they didn’t say anything on Monday, I had a feeling today was the day.
Najee Harris has always been one of the most positive players on the team, so for him to be as upset as he was after the game on Sunday, things had to be very bad in the locker room.
