I just finished Alan Wake 2 and I feel like I’m the only person in the world who didn’t like this game. While I loved the presentation, atmosphere and use of mixed media … I found the gameplay boring, the detective work mind-numbing, the puzzles terrible, and the story predictable. Whoops.
What’s a lauded game that you just can’t get into?

Yeah I actually loved the first one and was very excited for the sequel, and I can’t do it. Every time I open the game and have to deal with the gameplay I just turn it off. Some of the worst gameplay I’ve ever had to suffer through. Love everything else but my God I just can’t do the gameplay. I know the first one didn’t have great gameplay either but I don’t remember being this off-put by it.
Titanfall 2’s singleplayer campaign.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s an absolutely okay story, I finished the whole thing and had fun.
But most people think it’s the best FPS campaign in history or something. Meanwhile, for me it’s just a competent shooter with an average writing and some very cringeworthy jokes (haha, this computer AI doesn’t understand metaphors/idioms, never heard that one before, peak comedy).
Any resident evil game which isn’t 4, 4 remake or 5. I was able to finish 7 and enjoyed it but like most people say the third act really dragged. The first games and their remakes I guess I just don’t like slow paced survival horror and puzzles except for alien isolation which I fucking loved. The new age resi games in first person feel like a compromise between action of 456 and the first games and end up feeling kinda weak combat wise. 4 remake was a 11/10 for me and I’ve finished it 6 times by now, can’t wait for 5 remake which seems inevitable
