Hello Steam Deckers!

I just purchased a steam deck and am super excited for it to come in. I have been buying games this past week from steam as I see some of the ones that I have wanted to play are on sale and I did not want to miss out. That being said, I have pretty crummy internet at home, but during the day I have access to much better internet. Is there any way for me to download my steam games onto an external SSD and then move them to my steam deck when it comes in. It is going to come in on a day that I will not have access to the good internet and I don’t want to have to wait to enjoy some games.

I know that on windows, I could just download the games and then copy my library to the SSD, but I have a MacBook. I do have steam on the MacBook, but I am not sure if there is a way for me to download the games to an SSD from that.

Thanks for the help!

Steam now has the option to transfer games between PC over LAN. Otherwise, you could load them all up onto a microSD card. You’ll just need a Linux PC (just install Linux onto an external drive), as the cards need to be EXT4 format. Then you can just pop in the microSD and play your games.
