Amid all the doom and gloom that this last weekend’s loss to the Rams brought, I would like to shift the discussion to how the Seahawks could realistically come out of the Thanksgiving matchup against the 49ers with a win.
The glaring issues that need to change in my opinion would be: 1) Penalties: too many defensive penalties last week on big splays like 3rd down stops etc. and offensive penalties forcing us into to many 3rd and long situations killing drives; 2) Converting in the Red Zone: finishing drives with TD’s instead of FG’s will be essential in keeping up with San Francisco’s high powered offense; 3) Run Defense/Tackling: Improved play from the front four and overall better tackling is going to be needed to stymie McCaffrey.
I could keep going with this list, but would like to hear what other people think are the keys to coming away with a win this Thursday?
The 9ers have to give us the game for Seattle to win
The only thing that has made the 49ers lose this season is if Purdy has a massive concussion. As much as I love the Seahawks… I really don’t like injuries that permanently hobble players. Broken bones and sprains are one thing, but if it takes ripped tendons or concussions for the Seahawks to win… Ugh.
Outside of that dark thought, I think recent statistics have shown that the Seahawks are an elite team… Well, they would be if the O-line didn’t suck. Geno has mitigated some of the problems, but he has only been able to do so much.
With that in mind, if Abe Lucas comes back from injury, plays at his full capability, and none of the other O-line players are injured, then it should be an excellent game, one that the Seahawks might even escape with a W.
Make spoon play under and not outside put him in the Nickel and pressure when he needs to
