The ineptitude of the offensive game plan week after week is just astounding. I hear so many fans saying stuff like “it would set us back too much” or “we have a winning record, we would never consider a change.” Winning record or not we would be at such a higher level with more balanced playcalling. Waldron’s ineffectiveness been obvious through too many games now.

We aren’t losing because of our OC, we’re losing because we lack discipline and tons of miscommunications have f***** us over and over again. This team is just not clicking with one another the way that they should

I mean, Waldron has some questionable decisions and offensive game planning choices at times, but Matt Canada was next level awful. Go and watch a game’s worth of Steelers offensive possessions and try not to claw your eyes out. They truly had one of the worst, most predictable, least threatening offenses you’ll ever see.

Its such a tough dilemma, so I understand wanting to lash out. the first drive against the rams was absolutely gorgeous. I couldnt imagine getting rid of one of the few guys in the NFL that can script that kind of opening drive. But once he gets past the game script, it seems like he doesnt trust really anyone to do anything, and we end up getting too predictable. HOWEVER, penaties are a HUGE factor. Additionally, seems like 3-4 times a game our receivers and Geno are on different pages on an option route. Im sure the blame could be spread around for that, but i would like to rely on those less, or at least less on 1st/2nd and 0. Dial those up on 2nd and 3-5 when were ahead of the sticks.

if the same thing happens and we end the season with this poor an offense, there might be an argument, but matt canada is historically bad, and I think we can find last year’s success with Shane this year

I am not ready to fire another OC. Bevell, Schotty, and Waldron have all had good moments, but the bad from all of them has been oddly similar. Two different QBs, 3 OCs and more RBs and receivers than I can list and the problems look similar. Not trying to drive home some Pete sucks theory or anything, more so I just dont want to go down the same road again just yet. My best guess is that we just like the same style of OC and prefer OCs with similar tendencies. Honestly, Bevell is the one I feel the worst for, he was saddled with putrid O line play and Tom Cable.

For now I would much prefer we sit tight. The whole organization is having issues, sure the offense is quite bad right now especially later in games, but its not like the defense has been great in recent years either.
