Rack and pinion ends have some play.

I have a 2010 Mercedes e550 coupe 130k miles. They tried to align the car but it veers left and noticed the female ends of the rack and pinion have some play in the same direction the inner tie rod themselves turn. Is this normal for an older car or would this cause the vehicle to lean left?
